In this rotational position you will gain enhanced knowledge and skills in the treatment of patients in the following clinical areas: Stroke, Paediatrics, Specialist Medicine / Elderly Care and Medicine (including amputee rehab).
We are looking for a dynamic and ambitious individual to join our supportive and forward thinking team!
Main duties of the job
The post is suitable for an experienced physiotherapist with past experience in the above clinical areas; as alongside the team you will be working with patients with varied, often complex conditions.
In this role you will develop managerial skills by supervising junior staff and students; and also have opportunity to contribute to service development working alongside senior colleagues.
The successful applicant will have NHS experience and possess excellent assessment, clinical reasoning, treatment and teaching skills.
You will have sound IT skills and demonstrate the Trust's values of Compassion, Aspiration, Resourcefulness and Excellence.
Contribution to seven day working and on-call working is required of the post holder in this role.

Job responsibilities
Elderly Care / Specialist Medicine as part of a diverse and supportive MDT, you will be working across the Enhanced Recovery wards with a wide variety of patients. You will also have opportunity to work on the Hip Fragility Unit and contribute to the Best Practice Tariff and practice under the guidelines set out by the Hip Sprint Audit. As part of the role you will also input into Outpatient Movement Disorders and Falls Clinics on a regular basis and establish relationships with our community colleagues.
Paediatrics this rotation includes inpatients (paediatric wards at RBH) and outpatients (Dingley Child Development Centre); where you will look after children and young people of all ages with neurological, neurodevelopmental, respiratory and orthopaedic conditions. You will gain experience of hydrotherapy and can also be part of the Cerebral Palsy Integrated Pathway assessment team and neonatal developmental surveillance program, depending on experience. There is the opportunity to observe specialist clinics complex neurodisability, video gait and botox.
Medicine these rotations includes inpatient wards across oncology and haematology, cardiology, gastroenterology, renal, endocrinology and rheumatology; and well protected time for amputee rehabilitation (inpatients and outpatients). In this clinical area you would gain experience of assessing and treating lower limb amputees including prosthetic rehab alongside the Band 7 amputee specialist. The Medicine is large team of dynamic physiotherapists. We cover a large range of specialities as mentioned above. You will gain experience of supervising and supporting students and band 5 physiotherapists. We have an in-service programme, protected CPD time and senior staff to support you on this rotation.
Stroke Unit - working as part of a close MDT assessing and treating patients on HASU, ASU and early rehab. We are an award winning unit with close links to Reading University and get involved in new research both in the planning and implementation of new ideas. We consistently score A in SSNAP data. This rotation will give you an opportunity to hone your neuro skills, teach students and work with the MDT. We also work closely with the Stroke Association and Community Neuro Rehab Services including ESD.
