Homebirth B5/6 Job Advert
Homebirth Team Midwife - Calling midwives with a passion for home birth to join our dedicated, continuity of carer, homebirth team! We are looking for Band 5/6s or those who have at least one years' experience.
The RBFT Homebirth Team prides itself on successfully sustaining a 3-4% average homebirth rate as well as continuing to provide our patients with a dedicated homebirth service throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic. The team are winners of the "staff excellence award 2019" and were nominated for the 2020 RCM awards.
We have a large social media following via our Instagram (@rbhhomebirthteam) and Facebook accounts (Royal Berkshire Maternity: Homebirth Team) where we share patient feedback, stories and post our infographics and statistics.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is responsible for caring for a caseload of women (ratio of 1:35) choosing home birth. The post holder will work within the home birth team continuity of carer model with a shared 24hr responsibility of caring for women living within RBFT area who choose to have a home birth.
The post holder will be responsible for planning, implementing and reviewing midwifery care during the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods for their own caseload working flexibly over 24hrs with other team members.
The post holder will display effective communication skills, have good time management skills, organisational skills and will work as a role model for good practice, supporting and developing students and more junior colleagues as required.
He / she works within Trust guidelines/ policies/ protocols and the Nursing and Midwifery Council's codes and recommended practices.
