Job summary

An opportunity has arisen at the QA Hospital in Portsmouth. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, friendly person to join the catering team as a catering porter.

37.5 Hours a week working on a 6 week rota on various shifts.

We have a generous annual leave package - 25 days annual leave rising to 27 days, weekend and bank holiday enhancements and membership of the NHS Pension scheme.

Applicants will be working in a small team responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment for catering staff to work in. They will also be required to work in the catering store, patient food distribution area, assisting with food service and simple food preparation.

Applicants should be friendly, have a calm disposition, effective communication skills and be flexible.

Main duties of the job

Workforce management responsible for swiping/logging in at the start and finish of the shift

Communicate information relating to food service to users both verbally and by telephone.

Organise own day to day work tasks or activities.

Lifting and storing of heavy provisions.

Manually and/or mechanically washing up of utensils.

Ad hoc basic food preparation as required.

Deliver food or provisions to multiple location on the hospital site.

Responsible for the completion of task sheets.

Responsible for the environmental cleaning of floors, work surfaces, dismantling and reassembling of equipment ready for next shift following department procedures.

Responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness including personal hygiene.

When necessary carryout relief cover for breaktimes, annual leave and sickness.

Provide relief cover to the provision store, picking and packing area, mop washing and retail in the event of annual leave, training or sickness absence.
