Job summary
The appointment is to commence July 2026 for a fixed term period of 12 months. MRCS or equivalent is essential. The post does not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post are equivalent to ST3.
Standard hours 40 plus out of hours commitment.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will gain general urological experience and in addition, there is sub-specialty training available in uro-oncology (including robotic upper and lower tract surgery), reconstructive urology and endourology. In addition to ward duties, the timetable includes attendance at outpatient clinics, day case procedures and operating theatre.
The postholder may have the opportunity to attend urology in the Spinal Injuries Unit (NGH) where experience can be gained in the management of the neuropathic bladder in a multidisciplinary setting if that is desired.
Whist undertaking this attachment, the postholder will participate in the on-call middle grade urology rota at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
