We are looking to appoint to a 8 programmed (8PA) Consultant post in Cardiology with an interest in Imaging to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Based at the Northern General Hospital.
We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers.
Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
Should any further vacancies arise shortlisted applicants will be considered.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will, together with Consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of the Imaging service within Cardiology. This will include performing and supporting echocardiography, and participation in, and chairing, multidisciplinary meetings such as the valve and endocarditis MDTs. There are additional opportunities for sessions in cross-sectional imaging (CT and/or CMR).
The appointee will participate in the "on call" commitment for general cardiology, on a pro rata basis, acting as a non-invasive cardiologist (there is a separate interventional rota). The person appointed will take their equal share in providing emergency cover and will be required to cover for colleagues during periods of absence. The appointee will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues and assist on occasions throughout the region. They will also contribute to the ward cover rotas.
