Senior Healthcare Science Practitioner – Invasive/Non-Invasive

Job summary

We are looking to recruit a motivated individual to work competently with a multidisciplinary team in the Diagnostic Cardiology Unit.

The individual will be required to perform tasks unsupervised and to assist senior staff as required.

The post holder must be able to participate in non-invasive clinical procedures competently. In addition, the post holder will be required to supervise, train, guide and support staff in the performance of their individual roles and to give support to senior staff members.

The individual will be given the opportunity to post graduate level training in Invasive cardiac physiology and undertake BHRS accreditation.

Main duties of the job

  • Support the Invasive and Non-Invasive Diagnostic Cardiology Unit service
  • Perform and interpret a range of non invasive cardiac tests.
  • Lead in exercise tolerance tests and tilt table testing.
  • Analysis of holter monitor data
  • Undertake training in and once deemed competent, independently perform all invasive cardiac investigations
  • Work toward BHRS accreditation in cardiac devices
  • Undertake on-call commitments once all relevant competencies have been assessed.
  • Verify the quality and accuracy of junior colleagues' interpretation of test results
  • To maintain personal development.

Essential

  • BSc(hons) Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) / BSc(hons) Healthcare Science (Cardiology) or equivalent qualification, or near completion
  • Registered or eligible to register with RCCP, AHCS or HCPC
  • Post graduate study in a relevant field or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Immediate Life Support
  • SCST Part I & II, Certificate in Electrocardiography
  • SCST Diploma in Electrocardiography interpretation
  • BHRS written assessment completed

Experience

Essential

  • Experience in providing specialised, unsupervised diagnostic reports to an appropriate level and highlight and urgent findings
  • Experience in undertaking a broad range of non-invasive investigations
  • Experience in invasive cardiac physiology investigations

Desirable

  • Professional membership of relevant professional body obtained by examination
  • Experience in supervision and assessment
  • Experience with pacemaker and ILR implants and follow up
  • Experience working in the cardiac catheter lab
