The appointments will commence in August 2026 for a fixed term period of 12 months in the first instance and thereafter may be subject to annual review to a maximum of 2 years.An earlier commencement of the post may be possible should a vacancy arise prior to August 2026.There are two posts.
The post does not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post are equivalent to ST5 level/appropriate to an individual holding a Certificate of Completion of Training.
Main duties of the job
The clinical duties will be a mixture of outpatient clinics and endoscopy lists per week. The Royal Hallamshire and Northern General Consultants will supervise this clinical service. Some sessions may be flexibly worked depending on space limitations in the outpatient and endoscopy departments. Some flexibility will be required, in that the Fellows (and their supervisors) will sometimes be approached about backfilling vacant lists at other times of the week. There is no regular ward-based work. However, there may also be sessions of work involving ward cover and undertaking ward rounds depending on service demands. There is no routine Acute General Medicine on-call commitment. However the Fellows may be approached about filling vacant slots in the emergency on call medical SpR /StR rota, for which extra payment at the appropriate rates will be made.
