LAS ST3+ in Vascular Surgery

Job summary

The Vascular Surgery Department at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals are currently recruiting to a Specialty Registrar Vacancy and seek to appoint a LAS Specialty Registrar to cover the gap. The post is to commence ASAP and will be for a fixed term period until 6th October 2026. MBBS and MRCS or equivalent are essential. The post does not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post is equivalent to ST3+ level.

Main duties of the job

This is an opportunity to join a busy vascular centre in one of the largest teaching hospitals in the UK. Sheffield Vascular Institute is a tertiary referral centre for the management of complex arterial and venous diseases. We work closely with, and provide support to, a wide range of other specialities and services including: Transplant Surgery, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Cardiothoracic, and General Surgery.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered (or eligible to be registered) with the GMC with a licence to practice
  • Membership of Royal College of Surgeons (Intercollegiate MRCS) or equivalent
  • Basic Medical Degree MBChB or equivalent

Desirable

  • ATLS / CCRiSP / Basic Surgery Skills course

Clinical experience

Essential

  • Completion of Core Training or equivalent
  • Experience in making clinical decisions, knows when to seek help and able to prioritise need
  • Competence at ST3 entry equivalent level in the basic operative and non-operative management of surgical patients
  • Ability to assess published clinical research and incorporate it into practice
  • Evidence of previous clinical practice as a doctor in the NHS (excluding clinical attachments)

Desirable

  • Experience of experience at registrar level in General /Vascular Surgery or Renal Transplant Surgery between 12 months and five years
  • Logbook Evidence of practice in Vascular Surgery

Research

Desirable

  • Publications in Peer reviewed journals

  • Evidence of participation in CME/CPD in the last 12 months
