Endoscopy Decontamination Manager

Job summary

Be accountable for the operational management of the Trusts Endoscopy Decontamination Units Sheffield Teaching Hospital Trust (STHT) Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Northern General Hospital.

Ensure that the flexible endoscopy service is fully complaint with all relevant National, Regional, Professional and Local Decontamination Standards.

Be accountable for ensuring that the STH endoscopy decontamination units comply and are accredited against ISO EN 13485 quality management system.

Be responsible for ensuring that relevant training and development plans are in place to maintain the skills and competence of the endoscopy decontamination unit workforce and all other staff usingendoscope decontamination or storage equipment.

Main duties of the job

Ensure that SLA's are reviewed annually.

Oversee supervisors to ensure staffing levels are correct .

Take part in regular department staff meetings.

Attend and be an active member of Trust wide meetings.

Chair the Decontamination User Group meeting.

Organise and chair the Management Review.

Regularly review and audit working practices to ensure compliance with relevant statute and guidance.

Take the lead for the annual accreditation audit.

Participate in department risk assessments reporting on nonconformities and incidents as required.

Identifying corrective actions and relevant action plans.

To act as the EDU "User" in accordance to the HTM standard.

Organise and support the annual AED audit.

Ensure that tracking and traceability systems are established and controlled.

Ensure that decontamination element of the IHEEM and JAG audits are facilitated.

Investigate any DATIX or governance issue which may be linked with the decontamination of endoscopes.

Be a member of the COO Governance team and report back on departmental risks and governance issues.

Ensure that endoscopy decontamination unit staff are trained to a high level of competency.

Ensure that all staff complete mandatory and statutory training.

Support the EDU supervisors and ensure development and training is given.

Be responsible for recruitment of new and replacement staff.

Be responsible for writing and implementing policy around the storage and handling of flexible scope.

  • Degree in a management or Decontamination related discipline

  • Chartered Membership of the Institute of Decontamination Sciences or equivalent.

  • A detailed knowledge of decontamination equipment and procedures used in the re-processing of medical devices
