An exciting Career opportunity has arisen to join our team of Cancer Services pharmacists and technicians at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals to support development of our adjuvant breast cancer service. The successful applicant will be a member of the team leading and delivering this exciting new service along with other pharmacists, nurse ACP's and consultant oncologists. In addition, they will form part of the larger team of clinical pharmacists working in oncology undertaking clinical pharmacy activities. We encourage ongoing professional development and we have two Consultant Oncology Pharmacists.
The Cancer Service based at Weston Park Hospital serves a population across Sheffield and surrounding region. We deliver a range of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and clinical trials and work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and the surrounding network of hospitals via a hub and spoke model. We have close links with the University of Sheffield supporting cancer research and with development of new pharmacy undergraduate course.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and self-motivated pharmacist with experience in cancer services. Experience of working in oncology and haematology clinics independently assessing patients' suitability for systemic anticancer therapy (SACT) and subsequent prescribing SACT, particularly within breast cancer is also desirable. The successful applicant will join an established and dynamic pharmacy team.
Main duties of the job
To lead, deliver, develop and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to the Oncology Specialised Medicine directorate in accordance with the objectives set by the Principal Pharmacist and Clinical Directorate management representative (where applicable) in order to ensure safe, clinically effective and cost efficient use of drugs. To lead in the delivery of an adjuvant breast cancer clinic in collaboration with medical and nursing staff.
Contribute to pharmacy service provision for cancer services including clinical activity, aseptic/cytotoxic services, education and training, governance, audit and research.
To provide pharmacy departmental services and contribute to the out of hours service.
