Being one of the biggest pharmacy departments in the country, the team at Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust comprises of approximately 500 pharmacy staff working across five sites.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative individual to join the pharmacy homecare team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. We are a dynamic, innovative, and friendly team dedicated to improving clinical pharmacy services for our inpatients and 12,000+ patients on homecare.
You will be based within the pharmacy department and develop close working relationships with ward staff, clinics, patients, homecare service providers and others in the multi-disciplinary team.
We are looking for someone with a passion in this area of work and who is a motivated and patient orientated pharmacy technician. The successful candidate must have proven organisational skills and demonstrate attention to detail in their work. They must also be proficient in using Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word and Excel. Excellent communication skills are essential.
As part of this role, you will be required to provide cross site cover and you will have a regular weekly dispensary session and participate in weekend, late duty and bank holiday dispensary rotas.
Main duties of the job
Assist with the day-to-day running of the pharmacy homecare service, including prescription management, governance of homecare services, managing complaints and incidents and the review of KPI's and audits. In addition, you will be expected to work closely with finance, pharmacy procurement and clinical teams.
Liaise with homecare providers and patients, ordering of medicines, resolving procurement/invoicing related problems and enquiries, production of financial and usage reports and working collaboratively with other pharmacy teams, healthcare professionals and homecare providers.
To provide support in implementing developments within operational services to meet the needs of the patients.
To work with the Pharmacy Homecare Medicines Supply Service Manager to provide and support the delivery and development of pharmacy homecare services within the trust.
To work flexibly as part of the operational team to provide and maintain a comprehensive pharmaceutical service in line with current departmental policies and procedures.
To mentor and develop junior homecare staff and act as a technical point of call for any queries and day to day service issues.
To counsel patients on the homecare service, in pharmacy or in clinic as required.
To work directly with clinical teams to enhance the delivery of homecare services, and to review and improve existing services in association with the Homecare Manager/Deputy Homecare Manager.
