Waiting List Support Clerk

Job summary

Working as part of the waiting list team in the Trauma & Orthopaedic department providing admin support to the waiting list team.

To work in collaboration with the Waiting List Co-ordinator to manage the inpatient and day case function and flow of patients across all sub-specialties.

To actively assist the department in the efficient and effective management of the inpatient waiting lists in line with both national and local standards, ensuring the workload is managed in a timely and accurate manner.

The post holder will provide cross cover across the Waiting List Co-ordinators establishment within Orthopaedics.

Main duties of the job

To provide administration of the department's inpatient waiting lists, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.

Robustly manage a PTL against local and national waiting times as well as working to meet local Key Performance Indicators.

Use appropriate booking processes to facilitate the admission of patients adding, removing, appointing and suspending patients to and from the outpatient/inpatient waiting lists.

To assist the Waiting List Co-ordinator in the administration and monitoring of the inpatient waiting list additions in accordance with Trust guidelines identifying any potential difficulties in a timely manner.

To be responsible for making sure all relevant information is accurately recorded on Connect.

To be responsible for the production of theatre lists, ensuring all relevant information is recorded and documented including updating alterations making sure they are accurate and delivered in a timely manner.

To ensure that all patients are added, removed and suspended from the waiting list ensuring that the waiting list clearly defines clinical urgency.

Ensure that the waiting list structure allows admission decisions to always be sequential within the constraints of the defined categories of urgency.

To be responsible for the production of admissions lists ensuring these are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
