Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are pleased to announce that an exciting position has opened up as a band 6 specialist nurse within the Adult Inherited Metabolic Disease Service in Sheffield, which has recently been recognised and centrally commissioned by NHS England as a specialised centre for adult inherited metabolic disease.
The successful applicant will work as part of the multidisciplinary team to support adults with a variety of inborn errors of metabolism and complex disorders. While experience in this field would be beneficial, full training and support will be given to the successful applicant to develop their knowledge and skills in this field. The post holder will have the opportunity to develop a broad professional skillset and contribute towards shaping the role of the specialist nurse within the service.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work within an established multidisciplinary team including Consultants, Registrars and Specialist Metabolic Dietitians, working collectively to deliver high quality care for adults with inherited metabolic disorders.
They will provide clinical nursing advice, education and leadership within the speciality working with a high degree of personal autonomy. Optimal care will be delivered throughout all aspects of the patient care pathway. Therefore an ability to communicate with a wide range of people across different disciplines in both the hospital and community environment is essential.

- First degree (demonstrating graduate attributes)
- To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
- Relevant experience in metabolic medicine Or willingness to gain experience from learning from working alongside the medical team
- Post grad diploma in nursing
