Job summary
The Specialist Psychotherapist team offers psychotherapy to a a diverse population including individuals with a diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), and/or Epilepsy.
The successful applicant would be joining a well established team that have a track record of working collaboratively and supportively to achieve improvement in symptoms and quality of life.
The successful applicant would be expected to manage a clinical psychotherapy caseload, as well as contribute to discussion about wider service delivery and improvement with opportunities to engage in local and national research into this specialist area.
Main duties of the job
- To establish/maintain a psychotherapy service for patients with functional neurological symptoms or psychological difficulties linked to other neurological conditions such as epilepsy.
- To offer a front-line psychotherapy service for neurology patients, delivering psychotherapy to meet the diverse needs of service users.
- Deliver trauma informed psychotherapy when appropriate.
- To provide a versatile service, responding positively to individual needs including language, nationality, ethnicity, sexuality, learning ability, communication style, mental health, gender identification, physical health conditions.
- To develop understanding and promote awareness within a defined catchment area and the broader medical community of the interaction between psychological and physical dimensions of neurological illness.
