Main duties of the job
The role of the successful postholder is to support the medical photographers at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and provide a non-clinical photography service.
Clinical photography is undertaken on location in wards, clinics, and theatres, as well as in our photographic studio. We work closely with other health professionals across the Trust to provide a high-quality, reliable, and professional service. Your role will be to process these photographs according to standardised protocols to ensure the images are comparable with those taken at different time points in a patient's care pathway. This role will involve processing images that can be emotionally challenging, such as those depicting trauma, disease, and recently bereaved patients.
Alongside this, you will provide a non-clinical photography service, including public relations, portraiture, and photographic recording of medical/nursing procedures. This work can be more creative. You will need to communicate with photographic subjects in a considerate and appropriate manner.
The job requires a good level of physical fitness, strength, stamina, and flexibility. There is a requirement for walking, carrying equipment, and working in sometimes awkward and confined positions.
You must always maintain confidentiality of patients and the service, and observe all department protocols.
About us
You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and provides excellent benefits for its staff. This includes commitments to professional development but also many policies to support employees in balancing their personal and professional lives.
