LAS Junior Clinical Fellow - FY2 /ST1 level

Job summary

We are recruiting to 2 Locum Appoint for Service (LAS) posts at FY2/ST1 level to cover gaps on training programmes to start ASAP until 3 February 2026.

Shortlisted candidates will be asked for their preference in Specialty as part of interviews.

Any doctor who has completed a FY2 training rotation in the UK or has already worked at ST1 level or above in the UK will be considered for appointment at ST1 level (Nodal Point 03). All other appointees will be appointed on FY2 (Nodal point 02).

Further vacancies that arise during the appointments process will be incorporated into this recruitment round.

Main duties of the job

The duties of these posts are equivalent to FY2 and ST1 level.The post holder will be expected to assess and manage all categories of patients.

The duties include assisting in the day-to-day management of inpatients; attendance at Consultant ward rounds; prompt completion of e-discharge summaries; teaching medical students as directed; and attendance at clinical meetings.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise, by the date of application
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification

Desirable

  • ALS Certificate
  • ATLS, other life support courses
  • Evidence of achievement of exam competencies, e.g. MRCEM/MRCP Part 1

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • A minimum of 1 year clinical experience in a hospital post-qualification
  • Evidence of experience of working practices in the NHS in a clinical setting
  • Ability to apply sound clinical knowledge and judgement to problems
  • Ability to prioritise clinical need
  • Ability to maximise safety and minimise risk
