Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Therapy Assistant to join the MSK Outpatient Therapy Team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
There is one full time permanent post available, for 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday). This post will be based at the Northern General Hospital.
The successful applicant will work in the MSK Outpatients Therapy Team consisting of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Senior Therapy Assistants and Therapy Assistants. They will assist in the care and rehabilitation of adults with MSK conditions/injuries.
To develop their skills the successful candidate will receive training and regular teaching, they will also regularly participate in supervision with a qualified therapist.
Main duties of the job
Complete clinical workload delegated by therapists, seeking assistance and guidance when needed and reporting back.
Assist therapists to assess and treat patients in hospital, the patient's own home and/or in the community by providing physical help and acting as escort or chaperone.
Assist patients to be mobile and independent in chosen activities.
Gather care information which is relevant to future Therapy Assessment.
Carry out treatment programmes as instructed by therapists, monitoring. the patient, measuring outcomes and reporting back
Set up equipment for therapy and ensure it is used safely by patients, carers, staff and/or students.
Participate in the up keep of stock levels and support therapy team in non-clinical tasks.
