Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Histopathology Workstream Lead to play a key role in the implementation of the new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Pathology. The LIMS is first of type in the UK and provides the chance for the post holder to be involved in the design and workflow.

The Workstream Lead (LIMS) will be responsible for the delivery of the Histopathology workstream, ensuring appropriate planning and support is in place to enable successful service transition and drive operational change whilst removing unwarranted variation.

The post holder will provide practical support to both the wider EPR Implementation Team and Laboratory teams across the SYB Pathology service and will share functionality and anticipated configuration of the new LIMS and how processes could align. They will work as a liaison between the laboratory and operational service workstreams within the programme, various IT and Data teams and the system suppliers, Oracle Health.

The post holder will work alongside Workstream Leads in Blood Transfusion, Blood Sciences and Microbiology.

The successful candidate will have excellent analytical, organisation, communication and leadership skills evidenced by the ability to establish productive working relationships across organisations.

Main duties of the job

The Workstream Lead will ensure that appropriate planning and support is in place to enable successful service transition and will drive operational change whilst removing unwarranted variation. They will provide practical support to both the wider Implementation Team and laboratory teams across the SYB Pathology service and share functionality and anticipated configuration of the new LIMS and how processes could align.

The post holder will coordinate workstream activities to ensure alignment with other workstreams, identify interdependencies and assign mitigating plans where appropriate/required to ensure the plan remains on course for delivery within the agreed timeframe.

They will ensure systems and processes of the new LIMS are embedded into laboratory and clinical working. This will require the postholder to have a detailed understanding of service requirements, benefits realisation opportunities afforded by the new LIMS and to be able to contribute to local, Trust wide and SYB Pathology policy and protocol development to ensure both service and implementation needs are met.

They will develop Standard Operating Procedures, Trust and SYB Pathology policies which will relate to the safe and accurate implementation of the new LIMS and influence leadership at all levels to actively promote engagement around the Programme, utilising appropriate change tools.
