Job summary
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a LAS in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology (OMFP) working at DCT3 level. The successful candidate will be based at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, Sheffield.
This appointment is due to commence 06th September 2025 for a fixed term period of 12 months until 01st September 2026.
The post does not award a National Training Number. As this post is not recognised as a 'training post', full registration with the GDC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required.
Main duties of the job
A full time LAS post (DCT3 level) is available for one year commencing September 2025. This post provides a fully integrated training in diagnostic Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology.
The post holder will have a named Educational Supervisor and will undergo both hospital and departmental induction on arrival.
The post holder is required to sign an educational agreement and to consent to regular review by the NHS Trust and the Director of Postgraduate Dental Education and Postgraduate Dental Dean to assess satisfactory work and progress.

Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology provides a specialist histo-pathology diagnostic service for Sheffield Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Chesterfield and Barnsley Hospitals and the Regional cancer network. In addition, the Consultants within the Unit receive a large number of national and international referrals for expert opinion. The LAS will be expected to participate fully in the diagnostic service with duties ranging from assisting cancer MDT meeting preparation, trimming specimens and drafting reports for biopsies and resection
The post provides a broad and variable experience to the LAS and involvement in audit and teaching is strongly encouraged.
