As part of the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Pathology Network (SYBP) this role is to take responsibility for, and manage the Haematology Laboratories across both Barnsley and Rotherham Hospital sites, also acting as the Deputy Blood Science Laboratory manager.

This will require working closely with Biochemistry and Blood Transfusion colleagues to form a service management team. Currently, the Barnsley site is a Central Services Laboratory with the Rotherham site an Essential Service Laboratory with some specialised analyse.

Main duties of the job

Haematology lead BMS, taking responsibility for operational service provision and development, staffing and human resources duties, and budgetary and financial duties.

Along with the Biochemistry Lead BMS to act as deputy Blood Sciences manager supporting the Automated Blood Sciences Manager.

During the development of SYBP, the post holder will be required to maintain current services and assist the smooth transition of both hospital Haematology services into Essential Service Laboratories.

At this stage the post holder will then have the responsibility of running the Haematology service across both sites and, along with a Biochemistry service lead, assisting the management of Blood Sciences.
