As Matron, you will provide inspirational leadership, ensuring high-quality, patient-focused care in a dynamic and supportive environment. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of cancer day treatment services while supporting and developing a dedicated nursing workforce.
We're Looking For:
- A senior nurse leader with substantial oncology and/or acute hospital experience
- A proven track record in leading and inspiring high-performing teams
- A passion for delivering safe, effective and compassionate day case care
- Current NMC registration
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide visible, strategic and supportive leadership to teams supporting patients receiving systemic anti-cancer treatments within our Cancer Day Case Units
- Drive excellence in patient safety, experience and outcomes within cancer treatment pathways
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and professional development
- Collaborate with multi-professional teams within the cancer centre and wider health system, working closely with colleagues across the Cancer Alliance footprint

- NMC Registered Nurse (RN1/ RNA)
- Recognised management / leadership qualification
- To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
- Masters Degree, or evidence of working towards
- Commitment and evidence of ongoing professional development
Experience
Essential
- Extensive experience of working as a senior nurse, including experience of managing and leading wards/ departments
- Experience of managing staff and HR issues
- Experience of managing governance systems
- Proven change management experience / skills
- Experience of teaching / delivering education
- Demonstrate experience in ensuring capacity within acute service meets patient demand
Desirable
- Experience of managing multi-disciplinary workforce
- Experience of managing complaints / investigations and completion of Root Cause Analysis Tools
- Experience of management and delivery of systemic anti-cancer treatments
Skills and Knowledge

- Management of service developments / improvement projects
- Ability to work under pressure and meeting competing deadlines
- Ability to contribute effectively to the specialist cancer strategic vision
