An opportunity has arisen for Sister/Charge Nurses to join our department.
The post holders will work in conjunction with the Lead Practitioner to develop and implement, a quality peri-operative service to meet the needs of all clients requiring surgery. Responsible for the smooth and efficient running of Theatre Admissions Unit at Northern General Hospital
Other duties will be to deputise for team Lead Practitioner in their absent managing staffing, efficient use of theatre time and attending relevant meetings. Assist and support the Lead Practitioner in the development and implementation of an effective strategy to reflect the needs of Operating Services Business plan and annual service objectives.
Main duties of the job
Maintain a dynamic enthusiastic role model providing clinical leadership on speciality issues to ensure a high standard of care
Incorporating evidence/research based practice. The post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised programmes of care of patients during pre- operative and peri-operative period.
Evaluate the patients programme of care with other members of the care team.
Recognise the rights, dignity and confidentiality of the patient, staff and visitors and ensure they are protected at all times.
Co-operate with staff from other departments to develop effective channels of communication and to provide a safe and caring environment for patients, relatives and members of the multidisciplinary team.
In collaboration with Lead Practitioner develop clinical standards, policies and procedures to ensure a high quality service is delivered.
Act at all times within the policies and procedures of the Unit/Directorate.
May assist/ undertake audit to ensure that the service provision complies with agreed clinical standards, policies and procedures.
To promote innovation in clinical practice by obtaining, evaluating and disseminating information to support clinical decision making.

- Registered Practitioners (General Level 1) with valid NMC Registration or equivalent HCPC registration
- To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
- Management experience
- Completion of Mentor Preparation.
- Working towards degree level credits in associated pathway
Desirable
- Post registration specialist course
- Management and Leadership Qualification.
- Assessor qualification
- Relevant Degree.
