Job summary
We are looking to appoint a Whole time Locum Consultant in General Internal Medicine (with outpatients sessions in Diabetes) to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Based at the Northern General Hospital.
We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers.
Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Main duties of the job
The appointee will, together with consultant colleagues, be responsible for providing a full range of GIM and Diabetes/Endocrinology services across Sheffield and beyond.
The appointee will be ward based with a team of junior doctors (1 SpR, 1 or 2 Core trainees, 1 or 2 FY1 or FY2 doctors and a Physician Associate) and will look after patients allocated to the D&E directorate from a specialist medical take. The consultant would undertake a daily review (Monday to Friday) of patients under their care.
Together with Consultant and SAS doctor colleagues, they will be responsible for providing Diabetes/Endocrinology Services to enable the trust to fulfil its service agreements to the Commissioners.
They will undertake 2 clinics a week a combination of new and follow up dependant on service need.
