Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an engaged Senior Clinical Engineer to develop and expand outside of providing maintenance, test, inspection and repair of Medical Devices.
The ideal candidate will have a technical background gained in healthcare as a technician or test and repair engineer. They may have skills in electrical, electronic, computing, hydraulic and mechanical engineering, be suitably qualified and with experience of the use, maintenance and management of medical devices for healthcare delivery. However, relevant experience gained in other industries will be considered and training will be provided.
They will have an open and enquiring mind, an analytical and structured approach to problem solving, excellent communication and reporting skills, and a demonstrable enthusiasm and commitment to coordinating and leading on replacement programmes for medical devices across Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job
- Support the Project Manager in all aspects of project management of MDMG Planned Replacement Programmes (PRP), ad hoc replacement capital equipment & Major Medical Equipment Replacement Programme, as well as other ad hoc projects & capital schemes. Including development, implementation & achievement of quality objectives, policies and procedures as they relate to Capital Projects
- Deputise for the Project Manager when required, including chairing project groups.Management of projects in terms of coordinating the acceptance testing and introduction of new equipment into service
- Work with the engineering team to identify maintenance requirements for new equipment, considering warranty periods & other relevant factors such as identify funding sources for the maintenance of new additional equipment
- Participate in the production of Statement of Requirements (SOR) for NHSSC and/or specifications for new replacement or additional Medical Devices. Liaising both internally and externally to the Trust, with all project stakeholders
- Approve PAQ's for both STH & SCH ensuring they have been completed correctly. Participate in risk scoring the ad hoc bids received by MDMG
- Coordinate and lead on specific replacement projects liaising with procurement, finance and the clinical team. To work under own initiative & organise complex programs of work as part of a team, but often working alone in isolated environment
