The successful candidate will be required to participate on the 24/7 shift rota and undertake a wide range of complex analytical procedures, performing a range of manual, semi-automated and automated tests using scientific knowledge and experience to comment upon and validate results in line with ISO 15189.
Main duties of the job
To carry out complex analytical and processing procedures. o To be responsible for the production of accurate and timely Laboratory testing. o To maintain high scientific and technical standards. o Promote and maintain a high standard of relevant education and training. o Adhere to all Trust, SYBP and Departmental Policies. o To stimulate and take part in scientific and technical developments.

Essential
- IBMS accredited BSC in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent
- Registered with HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist
- IBMS Specialist Diploma in a relevant specialist subject
- Commitment to complete and maintain Mandatory Training and required Laboratory competencies
- Commitment to continuous professional development required to maintain HCPC registration
Desirable
- Evidence of continued CPD including relevant courses with regards to H&S, leadership, quality or training
Experience

- Experience with a range of laboratory techniques
- Detailed understanding of job content
- Ability to work with other colleagues to improve and develop working practices
- Discipline specific NHS experience in a UKAS accredited laboratory (Blood Sciences/Haematology/Blood Transfusion) laboratory)
