An exciting Career opportunity has arisen to join our team of Cancer Services pharmacists and technicians at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. The successful applicant will complete a guided training plan, evidenced against the RPS Cancer Care framework, to progress from band 7 to 8a, with an opportunity to complete independent prescribing if not already achieved. Applicants with appropriate and relevant experience can be considered for appointment at band 8a. We encourage ongoing professional development, several pharmacists in our team are undertaking an MSc and we have two Consultant Oncology Pharmacists.
The Cancer Service based at Weston Park Hospital serves a population across Sheffield and surrounding region. We deliver a range of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and clinical trials and work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and the surrounding network of hospitals via a hub and spoke model.
Pharmacy Cancer services has undergone recent transformation, and The Cytotoxic Aseptic Unit has recently completed a multi-million-pound refurbishment and expansion to include a Gene Therapy unit.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking and self-motivated pharmacist with experience in cancer services. The successful applicant will join an established and dynamic pharmacy team. Our current team have advanced roles in oncology clinics including prescribing SACT and clinical trials. There will also be opportunities to work with haematology and palliative care teams.
Main duties of the job
To lead, deliver, develop and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to the Oncology Specialised Medicine directorate in accordance with the objectives set by the Principal Pharmacist and Clinical Directorate management representative (where applicable) in order to ensure safe, clinically effective and cost efficient use of drugs.
Contribute to pharmacy service provision for cancer services including clinical activity, aseptic/cytotoxic services, education and training, governance, audit and research.
To provide pharmacy departmental services and contribute to the out of hours service.
