Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the SYRS Clinical Governance Team. The post of Deputy Governance Co-Ordinator is a diverse role which is involved in supporting the Governance Team and the triumvirate in co-ordinating the operational aspects of clinical governance for the SYRS Care Group. This in turn supports the Care Group to provide an environment which is safe, caring, responsive, effective and well-led, and delivering the very highest quality care.

The role will involve providing advice and support to staff of all disciplines within the Care Group in relation to all aspects of the governance agenda and ensuring KPIs are met. The successful candidate will be given opportunities to access appropriate training and develop.

The SYRS Care Group encompasses several diverse Directorates (Cardiac, Thoracic, Cardiology, Renal and Vascular) providing tertiary care to Sheffield and the wider South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire areas.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated and clinically experienced individual with an understanding and enthusiasm for clinical governance. The successful candidate will have recent or current acute NHS experience and excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.

The successful candidate will need to have the ability to work with different professional groups and function within a small team. The role involves contribution to the governance agenda at multi-disciplinary meetings, a balanced and measured approach to the role and be able to provide sound clinical and professional advice to colleagues.

The role also requires a good standard of computer literacy and the ability to critically analyse clinical information and report accurate and timely reports.

The successful candidate must be able to work over a 24-hour period as whilst the role is predominantly Monday to Friday, there will be requirements to work at weekends and nights to support Bronze Command as required by the service.

  • First degree or equivalent or working towards.
