Hours Per Week: 30

Contract: Permanent

Main duties of the job

If you have recently completed a Physicians Associate course and are looking for your first role within an acute hospital environment or have previous experience and are seeking a new challenge, we would like to hear from you.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Physicians Associate to join our Gastroenterology team. This is a new role with an established clinical team and would enable you to develop your skills and to shape the PA role within the service. You will provide a PA service on the specialist Gastroenterology ward. There are daily consultant-led board and ward rounds - you will participate in these rounds and perform ward based duties as a core member of the ward multidisciplinary team. You will play a key role in ensuring that there is continuity of care and will receive training to be able to deliver a ward discharge clinic. Over time, you will be supported to develop specialist skills (for example, performing endoscopy procedures, fibroscans and / or ascitic taps). There will be clear support mechanisms and protected time for further teaching and learning.

For further information about the role, please contact Dr Barbara Hoeroldt, G&H Clinical Director (barbara.hoeroldt@sth.nhs.uk). We would welcome visits from applicants before interview.

You will be working for an organisation which values and respects its staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and provides excellent benefits for its staff. This includes commitments to professional development but also many policies to support employees in balancing their personal and professional lives.
