Job summary
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals is one of five Trusts involved in the formation of the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw (SYB) Pathology Network. The aim of the Network is to deliver a Pathology Service that provides all SYB patients and clinicians with equitable access to high-quality, innovative laboratory medicine solutions that will ensure the best clinical outcomes for patients. A collaborative Network will also provide rewarding job and career opportunities for all staff. An Outline Business Case, which described the Target Operating Model for the future Network, has been agreed between Partner Trusts.
The proposed Target Operating Model will ultimately lead to the consolidation of services across SYB. As work progresses to establish the Network, staff will be consulted about proposals that may involve them.
Main duties of the job
Applications are invited from experienced HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientists, holding either FIBMS or MSc (in a Biomedical Science discipline or equivalent), IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma (Medical Microbiology or Virology), level 7 Apprenticeship or equivalent extensive experience with a commitment to obtain a level 7 qualification) to join the team as the Microbiology Quality lead in this busy and complex Teaching Hospital laboratory.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward-thinking individual with good interpersonal and communication skills. This post will involve working with the Laboratory managers and the Laboratory Medicine Quality and governance Manager to oversee the quality management system ensuring maintenance of UKAS accreditation to ISO standards. The post will involve the training, development and supervision of staff in all aspects of quality and risk management.
