Job summary
The post holder will work in close liaison with the Nurse Director and Clinical Leads ensuring the provision of high quality care within the resources available.
Main duties of the job
Assure the highest standard of clinical care by providing leadership to the profession and direct care staff within the wards, department and healthcare setting for which they are accountable.
Ensuring that standards are monitored and maintained and where necessary taking appropriate corrective action.
Ensure that administration and support services are designed and delivered to achieve the highest standards of care.
Provide a visible, accessible and authoritative presence in the departments to whom patients, relatives and staff can turn for assistance advice and support.
Maintain clinical competence.

Support the Nurse Director in the relevant aspects of their role to ensure the safe andeffective running of the service.
Promote a professional and positive environment conducive to high patient and staff morale, achieved by leadership, personal example and direct involvement in theactivities of the department.
Ensure compliance with the NMC post registration education and re-registration standards.
Promote and develop the nursing contribution to professional, directorate, Trust, regional and national initiatives.
Participate in the Trust out-of-hours arrangements for Duty Matron.
Maintain a flexible approach and develop the role according to professional or service needs.
Produce reports and information in collaboration with the Directorate management team relating to Haematology services, including the STH Transfusion Service and make recommendations as required.
