Job summary

We are looking to recruit either qualified ACPs in this specialty or experienced radiographers with an interest in urology as a Trainee ACP.

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner Radiographer in Urology will be expected to provide expert clinical practice, advice, and support relevant to this area of practice.

The post holder will be expected to develop the work, patient pathway and staff within their area and to seek to continually improve the service, whilst providing for the capacity and demand issues of the department. They will work with a high degree of autonomy including attending MDTs, obtaining informed consent, image interpretation and patient follow-up. They will work closely with multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive high quality, timely and clinically appropriate care and treatment from the point of access to the service.

Please also note this vacancy is a training/development post so all applicants will start at Band 6 and upon completion of necessary skills and/or training will progress to Band 7.

Agenda for change Band 7 will be attained through successful completion of the core and specialist competencies and post graduate level study.

These components to include:

  • Non-medical prescribing (NMP)
  • Advanced Clinical assessment (APACS)
  • Role specific competencies

Main duties of the job

  • Provide expert clinical practice, advice, and support to other professionals, the wider multidisciplinary team, patients and their families/carers, across the radiotherapy pathway from referral to treatment delivery and follow up
  • Work with colleagues locally and nationally to provide professional and clinical leadership, acting as an expert resource developing standards in Urological Oncology
  • Lead audit and research in this area of practice and build upon the current evidence base
  • Lead the training and development of the radiotherapy team, identifying educational needs and acting proactively with regard to urology cancer radiotherapy to enhance patient experience.

AFC Band: AfC Band 6 rising to Band 7 once the post holder has successfully demonstrated the completion of the relevant Advanced Practice Post Graduate Diploma, and a portfolio of evidence containing supervised learning events which demonstrate completion of the clinical element of the core curriculum outlined in the Multi-Professional Advanced Clinical Practice Framework (HEE 2017).
