Job summary
This is an exciting new post and we are seeking a full-time (permanent) B7 Deputy Business Manager for the Laboratory Medicine Directorate to support the existing Directorate Business Manager and Laboratory Medicine Management Team.
The post will provide day-to-day management of the Business Team and will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to contribute at a transformational time for laboratory services at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and across South Yorkshire & Bassetlaw Pathology .
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will lead and support the Business Team, reporting to the Directorate Business Manager and supporting the wider Laboratory Medicine Management Team.
The post-holder will have delegated business management responsibility for the Directorate, including tracking Directorate performance against annual business plans and budgets and for contribution to tender submissions, business cases and capital bids.
They will oversee and provide line-management and leadership to the Business Team staff, working and developing systems to ensure that accurate and timely information is available to support invoicing, service delivery and pricing projects.
They will engage with all aspects of contracting, marketing and customer service developments to attract and retain new customer referrals to the service, supporting the income and P&E directives of the Directorate.

- Educated to degree level or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in a specialist area.
- Management qualification, or, demonstrable management experience to the equivalent level
- Post graduate qualification, or equivalent extensive and in-depth specialist experience, in business management, including business intelligence and marketing
- Maths and English Language GCSE minimum Grade C.

- Previous managerial experience including knowledge of managing services, financial management and management of staff
- Experience of implementing policy, service planning and development and writing business cases
- Excellent spreadsheet and analytical skills, experience of manipulating complex data and presenting to a range of audiences
