Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of the Weston Park Cancer Centre, overseeing the booking of non-surgical oncology outpatient appointments for a range of Tumour Sites.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a booking team who cover several tumour sites within Specialised Cancer Services. You will train and support your team to work in partnership with clinical and secretarial teams to provide a joined up service for patients.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve monitoring demand, planning the full utilisation of clinic capacity and escalating short falls in capacity. You will ensure your team always maintains a high level of data quality and accuracy. Furthermore, you will ensure a single point of contact for all appointment queries is always available for patients and continually look for opportunities improve the quality of the booking service and patient experience.

You will support the implementation of new technology, such as the planned new EPR and patient apps and ensure they optimise the patient experience where they can, but do not provide any barriers to service access.

The Weston Park Cancer Centre is the leading Cancer Centre in the Northeast of England, with its clinicians' providing a non-surgical oncology services to the populations of Barnsley, Chesterfield, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield. As well as patients from further afield.

The growth in cancer diagnosis, combined with medical advances increasing the length of time people are living with and beyond cancer, means demands for services are growing. The Booking Team, lie at the heart of the treatment pathway arranging new, in treatment and long term follow up appointments.

A patient focussed role delivered primarily through telephone contact, the team work in a fast paced environment where planning is key to ensure patients receive time sensitive treatment on time.

The admin and clerical service at Weston Park is currently undergoing a cycle of improvement meaning as well as leading a service that supports patients at their most vulnerable, you can also contribute to innovations underway and bring your ideas and innovations to the creative improvement space.
