Job summary
This exciting post is for an experienced Specialist Pharmacist to lead on High Cost Medicines Management & Medicines Savings. The post holder will provide professional leadership and direct support at the Trust for the effective use of commissioned high cost drugs in line with policies and procedures.
There will be a requirement to liaise with a range of senior STH and commissioning managers to ensure successful implementation of projects and provide clinical information and expert advice on complex prescribing related issues.
The post holder will line manage the Trust Medicine Savings team (data analyst and programme manager) and lead on the delivery of medicine savings initiatives within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
- Lead on the use of high cost drugs in the Trust to achieve optimal patient outcomes and fulfil obligations to commissioners.
- Develop an agreed work plan with the Trust and the NHS England Specialised Commissioning team. Manage the Trust Medicine Savings team and lead on the delivery of medicine savings initiatives within the Trust.
- Provide a quarterly report of work undertaken for presentation to STH and the commissioners.
- You will need to be a pharmacist with extensive experience working in secondary care, be able to lead projects, and understand commissioning policies.
- You will need to make decisions autonomously, negotiate and influence others, and implement strategies.
