Job summary

The appointment is to commence in February 2024 for a fixed term period of 1 year. The post would involve a 6-month placement within the Emergency Department and a 6-month placement at Weston Park Hospital managing acute oncology patients. The post does not award a National Training Number, as this post is not recognised as a 'training post'. Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required, and if the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK sponsorship will be required. The duties of this post are equivalent to an F2/ST1/ST2.

Main duties of the job

The duties of this post are equivalent to an F2/ST1/ST2 and will be split between Oncology and Emeregncy Medicine. The successful candidate will take part in the Junior Doctor rota with 80% of their time being for clinical duties. 20% of the successful applicant's time will be spent on non-clinical work.

The appointed clinical fellow will be expected to assess and manage all categories of patients presenting to both specialities , under the supervision of the consultant team.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered with the GMC with a licence to practise
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • ALS certificate

Desirable

  • Instructor candidate status for ALS
  • ATLS, other life support courses

Clinical experience

Essential

  • 2 years' experience on an UK Foundation Programme or higher (or equivalent)
  • 1 year experience of working in the NHS as a doctor
  • Minimum of four months full time equivalent experience in UK Emergency Medicine in a Foundation post or equivalent

Desirable

  • Experience working in a UK Major Trauma Centre or Teaching Hospital Trust in a Foundation post or equivalent
  • Demonstrates a keen interest in acute oncology. At least 4 months clinical experience in the field of oncology.

Teaching and Training
