Laboratory IT Labgnostic Support Officer

Job summary

The post holder will work as part of the Laboratory Medicine Core IT team mainly providing technical support to service users around the setup and maintenance of site to site Labgnostic (formerly NPEx supplied by X-Labs) connections, working to standard operating procedures.

Many of the pathology reports we issue are for service users outside of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. These reports are often returned to the user by email or post for manual entry. Our goal is to utilise the Labgnostic system in order to improve our service to users and to positively impact overall patient outcomes.

Although not the main focus of this role, the post holder may be asked to assist in:

o Incident management for Directorate IT systems.o The maintenance of Laboratory Medicine IT and data transfer systems, both for in-housedeveloped software and externally procured software.o Support for Directorate IT projectso First line support to external users related to connectivity and access to Laboratory results, bothwithin the Trust and to external customers.o Enabling, promoting and supporting the effective use of data, information, knowledge and technology to support and improve health and health care delivery.

The STH Pathology Service relies on IM&T to support its operational needs.

Main duties of the job

Working to defined Standard Operating Procedures the post holder will setup, maintain, reconfigure and troubleshoot Labgnostic connections between STH and its service users. They will have a good understanding of the Labgnostic UI. They will be involved in the configuration of tests, shipping manifest configuration, user management and troubleshooting any issues that might arise, assisting the end users to resolve problems in a timely manner.

On occasion the post holder may be asked to provide general front line IT support on a day-to-day basis for laboratory staff encompassing all platforms and systems, investigating issues, documenting and liaising with both directorate staff, IT department and external suppliers.

To enable, promote and support the effective use of data, information, knowledge and technology to support and improve health and health care delivery.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for the maximum period of 29 months. Where there is potential, the secondment/fixed term contract may finish early, or in the first instance, the secondment/fixed term contract may be extended due to the internal/external secondment of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and secondments in relation to the substantive post holder.

The proposed Target Operating Model will ultimately lead to the consolidation of services across SYB. As work progresses to establish the Network, staff will be consulted about proposals that may involve them.
