This post provides and exciting opportunity to join an enthusiastic team within one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in the country. You will work as part of a team working collaboratively both within the Directorate but also across the wider Trust using your skills to support clinical information systems in use within Laboratory Medicine.
The post is critical in the support, maintenance and development of the clinical systems and hardware required by the end users.
You will be a highly motivated individual with an investigative, inquisitive mind and attention to detail.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and should be able to demonstrate good organisational skills as well as the ability to work systematically through problems.
Though not essential you will ideally have some experience of working in an NHS laboratory setting or working in an IT-related support role within the wider NHS. An understanding of Laboratory Information Systems and other systems in use across the NHS is preferable.
Above all you will be committed to your own development and show a willingness to learn new skills and develop your own knowledge.
Main duties of the job
The STH Pathology Service relies on IM&T to support its operational needs.
The post holder will work as part of the Laboratory Medicine Core IT team providing technical support to directorate staff, working to standard operating procedures.
Incident management for Directorate IT systems.
To assist in the maintenance of Laboratory Medicine IT and data transfer systems, both for in-house developed software and externally procured software.
Provide support for Directorate IT projects.
Provide first line support to external users related to connectivity and access to Laboratory results, both within the Trust and to external customers.
To enable, promote and support the effective use of data, information, knowledge and technology to support and improve health and health care delivery.

The aim of the Network is to deliver a Pathology Service that provides all SYB patients and clinicians with equitable access to high-quality, innovative laboratory medicine solutions that will ensure the best clinical outcomes for patients. A collaborative Network will also provide rewarding job and career opportunities for all staff. An Outline Business Case, which described the Target Operating Model for the future Network, has been agreed between Partner Trusts. The proposed Target Operating Model will ultimately lead to the consolidation of services across SYB. As work progresses to establish the Network, staff will be consulted about proposals that may involve them.
