Job summary
We are looking for a passionate and confident midwife to facilitate and accelerate organisational change within maternity services and to embed, sustain and accelerate culturally safe practice within the service for all women and birthing people, their families and staff.
As a passionate and knowledgeable leader with excellent team working skills you will work autonomously with our hospital and community teams to review midwifery practice and implement service improvement focused on inclusivity. As part of the wider maternity system you will also work alongside our LMNS to support and embed the key deliverables of the Equity and Equality plan.
Main duties of the job
The Cultural Safety Midwife will work to reduce inequality in maternity outcomes and experiences of Black, Asian and other women from an Ethnic Minority background, through engagement and co-production with other members of the maternity and multidisciplinary team, and community groups and service users representing these populations.
In addition, the post holder will engage with Trust EDI team and patient experience teams to improve care for LGBTQ+ people and people living with disability and act as a resource for staff.
The post holder will provide professional leadership and line management to the close support relative midwife and link workers.

- NMC registered Midwife educated to degree level or higher
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
- Evidence of study/CPD within the area or EDI and/or cultural safety awareness.
- Working knowledge of the challenges and priorities around improving outcomes for Black, Asian and other ethnic minority women accessing maternity care
