Job summary
The Sheffield diabetes and endocrine teams provide cross city in-patient and outpatient specialist services to young people and adults with endocrine conditions.
We're looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated clinical pharmacist with significant post-registration experience to help us deliver fantastic clinical pharmacy care to our diabetes and endocrinology patients.
The clinical pharmacists are integral members of the multidisciplinary team and have significant responsibilities in the clinical and support services provided to the directorate. The role also comes with plenty of opportunities for you to develop your skills including in-house training, mentoring and leadership development and the postholder will be an independent prescriber or willing to complete it within the first year.
Applicants must have a postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
You will contribute to pharmacy services in the evenings and weekends, thus maintaining your basic skills and competence.
Main duties of the job
The key roles of the post are to:
proactively identify, implement and develop optimum clinical pharmaceutical services to the Diabetes and Endocrine wards.
support safe transition of care for patients across health care boundaries.
perform independent pharmacist prescriber role (when completed relevant training).
produce and implement guidelines, protocols and SOPs with the support of a senior pharmacist.
contribute to service development projects under the guidance of the Principal Pharmacist as required.
provide support and mentorship for the post-registration pharmacists
participate in the education and training of pre-registration pharmacists, other pharmacy staff and healthcare professionals.
support pharmacy service areas in the department, this may include dispensaries, technical and medicines information
contribute to the out of hours service including evenings and weekends.
