This Service Coordinator role is pivotal in enabling the Integrated Geriatric & Stroke Medicine Directorate to provide a high-quality, comprehensive and professional clinical and administrative service to patients, relatives, carers and other internal and external stakeholders. The role will suit an individual seeking a challenging but very rewarding role in the NHS.
- To provide effective leadership to the IGSM administration team
- To co-ordinate administrative services in support of clinical service teams and assist the clinical service teams in the delivery of performance metrics.
- To support the continual improvement of hospital and Community services to ensure the best possible care for the patients we provide services to and ensure a brilliant place to work for our team members.
Main duties of the job
Be responsible, along with the Deputy Operational Manager, for the management of the IGSM administration staff - supervising medical secretaries, secretarial admin support, administrator's, ward clerks and apprentice, in line with the trust and local authority policies and procedures.
Support with recruiting new staff by shortlisting candidates and participating in the bulk recruitment process for band 2 administration posts. Setting up interviews for Band 3 and 4 posts as and when required
Work with the Deputy Operational Manager to develop training programmes for all new staff that includes assessment against key competencies.
In collaboration with the Deputy Operational Manager and Operational Managers, further the design and implementation of standard operating procedures for admin processes.
Along with the CCAG performance team, produce monthly reports from Lorenzo/TPP and circulate as requested.
Manage sickness and other absences in line with Trust policy.
Compose and manage administrative staff timetables for relevant areas, ensuring sufficient staffing levels to maintain an end-to-end high-quality professional service.
Foster a strong health and safety culture within the teams where all staff are clear that health and safety is everyone's responsibility and demonstrate good health and safety practice escalating any issues in a timely manner.
About us
This role sits within the Integrated Geriatric and Stroke Medicine Directorate which is a large Clinical Directorate (Budget of £25 Million) that incorporates the Acute Geriatric & Stroke wards on the NGH and RHH sites and the Community Stroke Service (CSS).
The role of the Directorate is to provide seamless integrated care to Geriatric and Stroke patients in Sheffield. Care extends from admission, inpatient stay, through to integrated care beds and long term follow up in the Community.
Our stroke pathway is delivered via two care groups: Head & Neck and Combined Community & Acute, SSNAP data is collected through various specialisms within these care groups: Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU), Acute Stroke Unit (ASU), Stroke Pathway Assessment & Rehabilitation Centre (SPARC) and Community Stroke Service (CSS).
