Job summary

The purpose of this role is to provide a full and effective range of administration support to the services within the Gastroenterology and Hepatology department. This will include:

  • Admin support to two teams:
    1. The Alcohol Care Team
    2. The Enteral Nutritional Team

Working closely with Specialist Nurses, Consultants, and other clinicians within the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Service, with specific allocated responsibilities for sub-specialties as the service requires.

To assist in the smooth operation of all general office functions to ensure an efficient and good quality service to patients and contribute to the achievement of efficient service delivery.

Main duties of the job

Work closely with clinicians to proactively manage patients within the service. This will mean tracking and micro-managing specific patients but also taking a wider view of the service as a whole.

Oversee and manage the utilisation of the G&H Activity.

Oversee and act upon ICE/CRIS referrals, appointing ASIs as required.

Work closely with the clinicians within the services, supporting the effective management of admin processes to proactively manage patient pathways.

Utilise the full range of Information systems (Lorenzo, ERS, EDMS, IBD Database and ICE) as required to carry out validation of RTT pathways as delegated by line manager.

Ensure that data held in both the Lorenzo and systems are accurate and complete.

Support collect, collate and input data into a range of local and national databases to demonstrate compliance with relevant national standard(s).

Identify and act upon DQ issues raised by DQ team via appropriate pathway management and retraining of team as required.

Compile and contribute towards reports, information and data provided to the Directorate regularly and upon request. Ensure that all deadlines for the submission of data are maintained and areas of concern are highlighted.

Notify appropriate clinicians and managers should a potential breach of performance standards be identified and ensure the necessary steps are taken to avoid breaches of standards.

Coordinate regular multidisciplinary meetings across specialities.

The Enteral Nutritional Team supports inpatients and outpatients who require long-term artificial feeding via a feeding tube. The service is practitioner-led, working with a variety of medical, allied health and nursing professionals.
