The MSK directorate is excited to announce an opportunity for new Clinical Nurse Specialists posts with the Rheumatology department.
We are looking for dynamic, well-motivated and compassionate nurses to team to deliver high quality evidenced based rheumatology nursing. We have vacancies at Band 6 and Band 7 level and are looking for enthusiastic nurses from a variety of nursing backgrounds
This is an exciting time to join as we have developed a new training framework for successful applicants to develop from a Band 5 to Band 6 CNS. You will be expected to commit to training to achieve full sign off against the local competency framework within a timescale of 12 to 18 months. You will be supported to achieve this, however, if this is not achieved you would be supported to into an alternative band 5 substantive post.
Please note this vacancy is banded dependent upon applicants experience relevant to this post. The banding of the successful applicant/s will start at Band 5 on the development pathway unless applicants meet the necessary threshold of skills and experience required to start on Band 6 or 7. The Band 5 role is a training post and upon completion of necessary skills and/ or training will progress automatically to a Band 6.
Main duties of the job
You will be expected to commit to training to achieve full sign off against the local competency framework to achieve Band 6 CNS progression. The timescale for the achievement of these competencies is 12 to 18 months. You will be supported to achieve these with regular reviews. If it is identified, you are struggling to progress in the agreed timeframe reasonable will be implemented to support you, if these are not successful you will be supported into an alternative band 5 substantive post.
o To act as a source of expertise, advice and knowledge for patients, carers and health care professionals.
o To provide a specialist nursing service for patients with rheumatological conditions.
o Manage own caseload in general rheumatology clinics under the supervision of the CNS.
o To have a clear understanding of professional boundaries and assist in promoting good practice in rheumatology specialist nurse care.
o Ensure patients have appropriate information about their condition and facilitate their access to suitable support groups.
o To work with the multidisciplinary teams in the provision of optimal care to improve the quality of life of people with lifelong disease.
o To promote the unique multidisciplinary approach essential to caring for rheumatology patients and their families
o To promote an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence based practice
