Job summary

The above appointment/s is to commence in November 2023 for a fixed term period until 31st March 2024. MBBS or equivalent is essential. This post does not award a National Training Number, as it is not recognised as a 'training post'. Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required. If the appointee does not hold right of residence in the UK, sponsorship will be required and supported. The duties of the post are equivalent to FY2/ST1/ST2 grade dependant on experience. Life support certificate i.e. ALS/ACLS or equivalent is essential.

Main duties of the job

Whilst covering Acute Medicine the post holder will work as part of an on call rota with a mixture of Acute Take and Post Take duties, with close supervision from the Consultant Acute Physicians. The Acute Medicine post holders will look after patients whilst they remain on the AMU, following instructions from the admitting consultant team.

About us

The Acute Medical Take team covers the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and liaises with the Emergency department and GP-referred patients. The AMU is designed to have 48-hour or less turnaround with patients either being discharged or triaged to the most appropriate specialty.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full registration with the GMC and hold a current license to practice at the time of application
  • Advanced Life Support Certificate from Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent by date if interview.
  • MBBS / MBChB or Equivalent

Clinical experience

  • 12 months Clinical experience post qualification and evidence of achievements of foundation competences from a UKFPO affiliated foundation programme or equivalent, in line with GMC Standards / Good Medical Practice
  • Successful completion of pre-registration posts and achievement of Foundation competencies for working at FY2 / ST1 level.
