Job summary

Whole time Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in neuro-intervention within the Medical Imaging and Medical Physics Directorate of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at both the Royal Hallamshire and Northern General Hospitals.

We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well-established careers.

Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will, together with 3 Consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of neuro-intervention, vetting and reporting. The appointee will be expected to provide radiological cover as required to patients with neurological conditions at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

A wide experience of Neuroradiology is preferred, with competencies required in diagnostic neuroimaging and interventional endovascular techniques. At least 36 months subspecialty training in Interventional Neuroradiology should be completed at the time of the appointment. The Candidate should be competent in all aspects of neuro-intervention.

The successful candidate will work flexibly and co-operatively with other members of the team in order to provide a high quality, comprehensive service within this teaching hospital environment.

The successful candidate will work according to the term and conditions of the national consultant contract.

  • Full and Specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC), or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
