Job summary
An enthusiastic, innovative pharmacist is required to lead and develop the clinical pharmacy services to allocated directorates and support the central campus as Duty Principal Pharmacist.
As a member of the Clinical Pharmacy Principal Pharmacists Team the post holder will be responsible for the line management of pharmacists, contribute to the organisation, leadership and development of pharmacy services, ensure best uses of resources available to maximise patient benefit and ensure appropriate provision of pharmacy department cover.
You also will provide advanced clinical pharmacist service to the orthopaedic wards.
Support will be given for continuing professional development and suitable post-registration qualifications.
Main duties of the job
The key roles of the post are to:
To develop and implement the strategies needed in order to deliver the vision of optimum clinical pharmaceutical services under the direction of the Clinical Pharmacy Services Manager.
To evaluate the delivery, implementation and risks involved with clinical pharmaceutical services under the direction of the Clinical Pharmacy Services Manager.
To line manage Advanced, Clinical and Foundation Pharmacists.
To plan and organise the clinical pharmacy services on a daily and long-term basis to the wide range of directorates within the group.
To propose Trust-wide multidisciplinary policy or service changes
To identify resources required to improve clinical pharmacy services to the assigned RHH Directorates
To produce and implement business plans for advancements of pharmacy services
To ensure the appropriate level of pharmacy service is provided to wards at RHH daily.
To provide advanced clinical pharmacist service to the orthopaedic wards.
To act as the named duty principal pharmacist at RHH on rota.
To support Pharmacy Wellbeing strategies and contribute to staff engagement processes.

Essential
- Registered Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- MPharm degree
- Higher degree/ Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent postgraduate diploma in specialist area
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Appropriate Short Management Courses e.g. Appraisal training, absence management
Desirable
- Registered Independent prescriber
- Post-graduate Masters in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent)
Experience
Essential
- Extensive clinical experience post qualification in secondary care. Including in depth experience in a clinical speciality and leadership of clinical pharmacy services within that area
- Experience of supervision, mentorship or management of staff.
- Experience of implementing HR policies and supporting staff wellbeing
- Experience of leadership, delivery and evaluation of pharmacy projects with multidisciplinary implications
Skills and Knowledge

- Excellent clinical practice knowledge including a breadth of pharmacy practice and in depth knowledge and skills in a given clinical speciality
- Have excellent communication skills; non-verbal, verbal and written in order to communicate with a broad spectrum of people (from senior directorate managers to members of the public).

- Able to evaluate best practice and apply research findings to practice, promoting evidence based practice within the Trust
