We are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity within the Directorate of Laboratory Medicine in Phlebotomy Services. We currently have one permanent full-time vacancy for a Phlebotomist. This post will be primarily based at The Phlebotomy Outpatients Department located at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital on C Floor. The Laboratory Medicine Phlebotomy Services Department operates as one unified team so there will be a requirement to work at the Drive-Through Phlebotomy Service situated adjacent to the Northern General Hospital on Longley Lane on certain occasions.
As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for performing venepuncture procedures with precision and care. Your role will involve interacting with patients, ensuring their comfort, and collecting blood samples for analysis. You will work closely with our experienced team of healthcare professionals, collaborating to deliver exceptional patient care. The C Floor Phlebotomy OPD team also form the Specimen Relay Team and are responsible for the collection, handling and delivery of blood samples to the RHH laboratories from C Floor specimen reception and the RHH wards.

Main duties of the job
Conduct efficient and accurate blood sample collection, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
Interact with patients in a compassionate and professional manner, addressing their concerns and ensuring a positive experience.
Label and handle specimens accurately, maintaining proper documentation and record-keeping.
Collaborate with the laboratory team to ensure seamless sample processing and delivery of timely results.
Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to infection control protocols.
As well as providing Phlebotomy services the successful candidate will participate in some basic MLA duties including receiving, sorting and distributing other biological samples. Phlebotomists will take part in the Community Outreach Service offered by the hospital where they are required to visit patient's homes, as well as supporting Ward Phlebotomy when required.
