Job summary

The purpose of this role is to lead on the systematic review of training for both Mandatory and Job Specific Essential Training (JSET), ensuring effective use of resources as well as the management of change in the provision of training across the Trust. The post holder will work closely with the Induction, Mandatory and Job Specific Essential Training team and the Learning Management System team (PALMS), and reports into the Learning and Development Manager.

The successful candidate will use appropriate management techniques in the strategic planning, coordination and optimization of STH resources, processes and activities related to Mandatory Training and JSET. The post holder will review training provision, identifying opportunities for improvement and restructuring and will present proposals for change in formal reports to Trust Board. They will be responsible for enhancing the overall education experience for staff as well as enabling appropriate provision to meet the Trust's strategic workforce plans and the provision of high-quality care to patients.

As a member of the Learning, Education and Development Department the post holder will significantly contribute to the Trust's strategic agenda. They will work to influence a body of staff and oversee the processes, delivery, and quality for educational activity across the Trust, monitoring standards and overseeing plans for quality improvements.

Main duties of the job

  • Contribute to the Trust's strategic agenda regarding Induction, Mandatory and Job Specific Essential Training
  • Produce recommendations for revision of Mandatory and JSET training provision
  • Oversee the quality of core training content
  • Identify gaps in training and participate in planning, organizing and delivering training and education programmes, utilising a variety of approaches with flexibility to meet changes in demand, e.g. remote learning, elearning and face to face
  • Evaluate programmes of learning and analyse feedback, escalating to senior managers as required
  • Lead relevant projects linked to Induction Mandatory and Job Specific Essential Training for all staff groups
  • Support new innovations and initiatives for Job Specific Essential Training, including supporting subject leads to plan develop and implement new subjects to the Trust

Essential

  • First degree in relevant subject
  • Masters-level qualification (or evidence of equivalent experience and training that equates to Masters level) in a relevant discipline
  • Post Graduate or Post Registration study in a relevant field and commitment to continue own professional development
  • Teaching Qualification level 6 or above (e.g., Cert Ed, PGCE) or significant experience in varied teaching roles

  • Previous experience leading projects and/or educational services
