An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Physiotherapist to join the Surgery Division at the Northern General Hospital.
The Surgery Division at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals provides therapy to a number of specialist areas.
The specialties covered by these teams include:
- General Critical Care (ICU & HDU) receiving Major Trauma
- General Surgery including Specialist Services for Vascular, Colorectal, Upper Gastro-Intestinal and the Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary Unit
- Specialist Regional Services for Cardiothoracic Surgery including a specialist Cardiothoracic ICU, HDU and Cardiac and Thoracic surgical wards
- Respiratory Medicine including a dedicated Respiratory Support Unit for Non-Invasive Ventilation and Respiratory Outpatients
This post offers an annual rotation between Respiratory Medicine, Cardiothoracics and Critical Care & Surgery and provides excellent personal and professional development opportunities within our well-established pathways and developing services. There will be the opportunity to learn, teach and contribute to the development of the Therapy Service and be involved in ongoing service development for the whole team.
Main duties of the job
Are you a Physiotherapist with?
- Post graduate experience; sufficient to acquire core competencies in Physiotherapy practice in respiratory conditions and rehabilitation
- The knowledge and skills to manage a complex respiratory and rehabilitation caseload including post-operative experience
- On call experience or other relevant experience
- Effective interpersonal, communication and team working skills
- Implementation of PROUD values in daily practice

You Would Gain:
- Excellent clinical experience across a range of specialties
- Caseload management skills including complex cases with supervision from the Lead Therapist/Clinical Specialist
- Skills in staff and student performance management and development including participation in the on call training programme
Therapy Services provides a number of services over 7 days (including Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays). Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to these rosters as part of their contracted hours as well as participating in the emergency on call service.
