An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Projects, Planning and Development team within the Finance department at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

A comprehensive study support package will be provided to enable the post holder to work towards full registration with a recognised CIMA or CCAB accountancy body. Dependent on the stage of professional study, the post-holder may be able to transfer onto an apprenticeship.

Main duties of the job

The post would suit candidates who are at least AAT qualified and/or progressing towards a CCAB/CIMA qualification.

The Post-holder will provide support to the Finance Managers (Planning, Projects & Development (PPD)) to produce the central monthly reports and analysis in line with the month end timetable. The PPD team also leads on the financial planning process for the Trust, and this role will provide a key role in the external and internal planning processes.

They will produce financial analysis to support reporting to NHS Improvement on both a monthly and ad hoc basis and for the Annual Plan submission.

A key part of the role will be to undertake ad hoc projects and analysis to support financial improvement at the Trust. This will include supporting the Deputy CFO with financial recovery and Directorate improvement, contributing to key Trust wide projects and initiatives and supporting the Financial Improvement and Costing and Contracting teams in a project capacity.

The post holder will be required to work onsite at the Northern General Hospital for a minimum number of days per week, with an initial expectation of full time onsite working during the initial induction and training period.

  • A good level of education in a numerate subject at Grade C/4 or above.
  • NVQ level 5 or Association of Accounting Technician membership or certificate level of a professional accountancy (CCAB) qualification or equivalent experience

Desirable

  • Further progress towards CCAB qualification
  • 3 or more A Levels at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent experience/ qualifications) A levels in Accountancy, Business Studies, Mathematics at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent experience/ qualifications)
