Job summary

We are seeking to appoint an experienced and motivated nurse to work alongside a team of professionals dedicated to the delivery of HIV services. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team that delivers the highest standards of care to this group of patients both in and out of a hospital setting. The purpose of this role is to act as a professional resource to people with HIV, their families and carers and other health care professionals. The appointee will manage the care of patients and provide education and advice in all aspects of HIV infection.

Main duties of the job

  • To work within a multi-disciplinary team in the development and delivery of the highest level of clinical practice within the HIV Service.
  • To work in partnership with the MDT to meet the national and local agendas for HIV.
  • To act as a source of expertise and knowledge to patients, carers and health care professionals.
  • To actively contribute to the delivery of seamless, multidisciplinary care to patients with HIV.

  • RGN first level registration
  • ENB 998 / City & Guilds 7307 or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Relevant management and leadership training
  • Relevant clinical courses and training
  • Possession of or actively working towards a first degree
  • Completion of Directorate Educational Strategy or equivalent that demonstrates clinical, education and leadership skills.

Desirable

  • NMP qualification
  • Counselling
  • Motivational interviewing
  • Venepuncture

Experience

  • Extensive post registration experience
  • Significant experience caring for patients with HIV or equivalent chronic illness in an NHS setting
  • Awareness of applying research and audit in practice
  • Evidence of working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Proven management skills within the acute care setting
  • Commitment to developing and sharing knowledge
  • Awareness of patient/public involvement initiatives
