Qualifications & Training

Essential

• RGN first level registration
• ENB 998 / City & Guilds 7307 or equivalent teaching qualification
• Relevant management and leadership training
• Relevant clinical courses and training
• Possession of or actively working towards a first degree
• Completion of Directorate Educational Strategy or equivalent that demonstrates clinical, education and leadership skills.

Desirable

• NMP qualification
• Counselling
• Motivational interviewing
• Venepuncture

Experience

Essential

• Extensive post registration experience
• Significant experience caring for patients with HIV or equivalent chronic illness in an NHS setting
• Awareness of applying research and audit in practice
• Evidence of working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
• Proven management skills within the acute care setting
• Commitment to developing and sharing knowledge
• Awareness of patient/public involvement initiatives

Special Skills/ Knowledge/ Aptitudes

Essential

• Proven clinical skills in care of patients with diseases of infection, including diagnosis, assessment and treatment
• Proven ability to work autonomously
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent written and presentation skills
• Ability to apply the framework of clinical governance

• Knowledge of the clinical, social and psychological issues associated with ill health.
